since i haven't done many big drawing binges like i used to do, these start from my last year at college through grad-schoo. (much longer time period than the earlier sketchbooks)

Tempest: Ariel

c. fall 2001

"I pr'thee, remember I have done thee worth service; Told thee no lies, made thee no mistakings, serv'd without or grudge, or grumblings. Thou didst promise to bate me a full year." (I.ii. 245 – 249)

my final fall semester i was taking my favorite classes... japanese, japanese history, poetry, and Shakespeare. and as i have a tendency to draw during classes... ^.^;; and since i was reading "The Tempest," i started to draw a couple characters from the play.

Tempest: Prospero

c. fall 2001

"Thou liest, malignant thing! Hast thou forgot The foul witch Sycorax, who, with age and envy, Was grown into a hoop? Hast thou forgot her?" (I.ii.257 – 259)

the second "The Tempest" drawing, this one of the sorceror Prospero. my professor was a hard grader on essays... though i had taken 3 classes with him, the highest grade on an essay i had ever gotten was a B+. determined to get my A, i struggled to make my last paper everything he wanted... and since he liked extra things, i also included my two drawings. he liked the extra effort i put in and i got my A :)

a Secret Santa Turtle

c. December 2001

i drew this for a Secret Santa the AAF had last year. it's painted in acrylic. i gave the original drawing to Akiko-chan.

Wind Dancer

c. december 2001

i tried out a different sketching technique, and was quite pleased with how this came out.

Bishie Neko Boy

c. spring 2002

a bit rough, needs a bit of work, but i still like how he came out. his pose is based on a magazine pose. the world needs more bishie neko boys.

Bishonen

February 18, 2003

after a long hiatus, i returned to drawing. his heads a bit big, but i still really like how he came out.

Shonen-ai

February 18, 2003

i had spent the previous few days reading lots of webcomics, most of them with a shonen-ai theme. it inspired me to draw these charming young lovers.

Li's Lovers

June 2003

this began with a little suggestion by a fellow AAF board member, of why don't i draw myself with a tall gorgeous elf guy? well, with my love of shonen-ai, i decided i needed TWO gorgeous guys. and thus, my two lovers were created.

the first is Xenyth. he's an exiled elf-prince who has been disguised as a human for a several centuries. we apparntly knew each other in my past life, so finding me in this life, he's sticking around. as an elf-prince, he is exceedinly arrogant. he's also gorgeous and he knows it.

the second is Gai. he's a half cat-demon. rough and tough, you know the type.

the only thing they love more than each other is me *grins*

Kenshin-chan

c. fall 2003

i did this rough sd sketch in class. his hands are a mess, but i love how his face came out. isn't he too cute?

Shippo-kun

fall 2003

this didn't start out to be a fanart. i was just sketching, and when i finished, i realized he looked like an older Shippo, so i added a fox tail, and he became Shippo-kun.

the nameless warrior

fall 2003

this was done the same time as the above Shippo pic. his head is a bit small, but i do like how this one came out. on the side you see some strange 'writing,' which is an enlargement of the tabulet he's looking at in his hand.
