the title of this section refers to 2 things. 1, the sudden boom of my drawings. 2, the starting of the big anime boom in n. america. (well, not the earliest of beginnings, which i missed by about 4 years, but y'know) anyway, these images were done in 1996

Sailor Mars

this would be Sailor Mars in the middle of her new attack that she gets in the second season. "Mars Celestial Fire Surround" or something like that. i just thought that she looked so sad, and tried to capture that look.

a sight-copy of Pai, as the Sanjiyan, as she glares down at some stupid monster. i'm so glad that Dark Horse is finally putting out more translated 3x3 eyes.

Mathew Sweet

Mathew Sweet, a very cool rocker, used a few anime in some of his videos. i never got a chance to see them, but i have heard that he used Cobra in one, and Lum in the other. and he also happens to have a Lum tattoe. so i tried my best to draw him, proudly displaying a Lum tattoe.

Vampire Miyu

a sight-copy from the first Vampire Miyu comic run, which was eventually, years later, reprinted in graphic novel form by IronCat as Vampire Miyu Origins I. anyway, i absolutely loved the art from this series. my own early attempts were not as good, but i guess they showed some promise.

Promise

Promise was a short, beautiful tale found in Viz's Four Shoujo Tales. it was my favorite, art-wise. simple, yet elegant style. Nishiko i think was the artists' name. i can't remember off hand. anyway, Viz later released a book with just her work. definately good stuff. anyway, this was my attempt at site-copying the mysterious 'friend'.
