BOOK 11.5 : Japan Sketches


i tend to draw in class. a lot. these are all sketches from my japanese relegions note book. i stopped taking notes after the second week. ^.^;; my note book was filled with lots of sketches, poems, and short stories. unlike my sketchbooks, all these drawings are 100% original. (which is why they suck.) these were all done while i was in Japan, fall 2000.

Kick-ass

pissed off with a guy-friend, i drew this girl with attitude to relieve my anger. drawn in my notebook during relegion class.

pissed off with a guy-friend, i drew this girl with attitude to relieve my anger. drawn in my notebook during relegion class. after observing me drawing this picture in class, said guy commented to me after class that he could tell i was pissed at him.

Panic

i tried very hard not to draw in my notebook during class. i tried to take notes like a good student. this was the first sketch, restricted to the margin, that found its way in my religion notes. the previous "bitchy" drawings were drawn in class, but not in the middle of my notes. in another few weeks, i stopped taking notes entirely, and my notebook for class contained various sketches, poems, and stories.

Mayfly

a haunting girl, she was joined by a haunting poem, some of the lines can seen in the drawing. named after the Weiss Kreuz song.

AAF: SDDM li-chan and Coe-slime

back in the fall of 2001, the anime art board, the Anime Artist's Forum, had a drawing game entitled "the super-deformed death match" where each board member would draw themselves in SD and we would have a total-free-for-all "battle." at the time, i was in japan and had no access to a scanner, so Akiko-chan drew my scenes. but that didn't stop me from doing my own SD li-chan sketches in my notebook. in this particular scene, another board member, Coestar (the creator and "god" of the AAF) had been transformed into a slime. this was my responce to seeing him slimed.

a couple more quick sketches of my sd. no, i'm not a cat girl. but like Hikaru from Rayearth, i tend to pop tiger ears and tail when super-deformed.

a random face sketch. yes, i was thinking of the Ranma video when i titled this pic.

a random elf girl. i named this pic after the Maaya Sakamoto song. i listened to that song all the time during that semester. it seemed to fit this pic well.

Proportions

one of the last pics in my notebook. i started drawing her, thought she didn't come out well at all. so i started drawing another pic. but that one came out really bad. then i decided she wasn't so bad after all. she's really rough and incomplete, but interesting, i think.
