BOOK 03 : Canada Days

over half of the book was drawn in a period of a week, while i was on vacation with my parents. the first week we were at the campground, it rained every day. with nothing better to do, i spent the time inside the camper drawing. anyway, these images were done in 1996.

Ranma

c. late spring 1996

another sight-copy from some images from Ranma 1/2, featuring Girl-Type Ranma.

Dream Elf

c. late spring 1996

this is a character design for an elf that was in a dream of mine. i couldn't remember very much about him, but he had the most interesting hair. this is one of the few drawings i did at that time with absolutely no references at all.

Space Girls

c. summer 1996

i got the idea for these two after watching Project A-ko VS. basically, i came up with a story about two girls. "1 a computer genius, the other super strong. alone, they are betrayed by the same man. together, they vow vengence. they have the ship, the brains, and the entire galaxy to roam. the problem? they hate each other!" i never did much with this story, but it remains in my book of ideas. the idea for the pose for the computer chick was based on a Sailor Moon pose, and the other chick was based on a Luke Skywalker drawing. (hence, the lightsaber.) this is rather typical of my early stuff.

Zelgadis

c. summer 1996

i fell in love with Zelgadis after seeing the first tape of Slayers. it was a while before i saw any more of the anime, and then, years before the rest of season one was put out. but i loved Zelgadis. this was pretty much drawn on my own, though i was watching the anime when i drew it. i created a new outfit for fun.

Sailor Moon and Luna

c. fall 1996

i'm not a big Sailor Moon fan, but i have always really liked the artwork. i had several art books, and a couple dojinshi called "Moon Fight," which i drew from a lot. i think this was a site-copy from one of the "Moon Fight" stories.

Sailor Moon

c. fall 1996

this was a site-copy from the Sailor Moon info book. i had the entire set in Japanese, long before Mixx, pardon, Tokyo Pop even existed.

Shi

c. fall 1996

this was a site-copy from the Shi manga version. back in highschool, i was really getting into anime and comics, and grabbing whatever i could get my hands on, be it japanese or american in origin. i soon got some sence and learned what was good and what wasn't. this was the only Shi book i own. i don't think i've touched it since.
