Rin was born during the Heian period in Japan. She enjoyed playing with the human nobles, often joining in their poetry competitions and other artistic endevors. But the centuries of peace ended in civil war, and as the wars continued Rin fled to China, and later to Europe for the renessaince. Eventually she crossed over the Alantic Puddle where she eventually settled in a grove that was on the property of a certain Plum Eastham.
