Occupation: PlaneStrider/Riftkeeper They patrol the borderlands of their homeland hunting for things that have crossed into their world from other dimensions. They are particularly sensitive to the threads of reality that connect different worlds and can easily cross from one dimension into another by following these threads. This ability allows them to track creatures across dimensions when necessary.

Family: Kestrel and Peregrine are brother and sister though there is an 'unnatural' closeness to their relationship is only partially explained by the fact that they are twins. Part of this closeness is revealed in a physical ease with each other, though the mental connection is as strong, allowing them a seemingly telepathic connection at times. Births are rare in elves. Twins are even more rare, and their mother died during childbirth. The twins were born cesarean section; therefore neither is actually older than the other. Their father was a hunter killed before their birth, and some argue it was for love of him their mother died. Their mother was the sister of the King of the Wood Elves, so Kestrel and Peregrine are considered part of the royal family, though they are so far out of line for the throne that it is inconsequential.

Differences: Kestrel is more responsible than Peregrine for maintaining their home. She's the one who makes certain they restock between hunting trips. She is more gregarious and social, while Peregrine is more reserved. Peregrine is faster than his sister. It is visible in the fact that he can run faster and longer than she can. And when fighting, he can fire his bow more quickly (and swing his sword more quickly) than she can.

Special Skills: Like the falcons of their names, Kestrel and Peregrine are skilled hunters with acute hearing and vision (including night vision). They are skilled trackers of their prey and can move silently and hide in shadows to avoid detection. Their experience has also taught them good combat reflexes and given them a kind of danger sense heightened by natural dexterity. They have survival and basic medic skills so they can survive in the forest or strange worlds. Because of the intimacy of their training and their relationship, they know what the other will do with only a look, as though they were telepathic with each other. Finally, they are gifted at crossing dimensions, a trait common to the noble family.

Dimensional Travel: They have the ability to easily 'walk' from one dimension to another. They simply follow the lines of reality that connect one dimension to another and cross realities. Their gift gives them the ability to know if something is 'native' to a particular dimension, or if it is 'unnatural' and follow it back to its home dimension (or track it more easily across the foreign dimension). Part of this gift allows them to appear in costume fitting in the world they find themselves in and the ability to comprehend the languages (and major customs) of the new dimension.

Fighting Style: They are swordsmen and archers, with well-honed combat reflexes (evasion/defense) from fighting a variety of monsters. They have the ability to 'blindfight' relying on the small cues around them to gain an advantage or at least not lose any ground when they are unable to see clearly. They fight to kill, not bothering to wound or disable. They can use their bows as blunt weapons when necessary, but do not use shields and wear only leather armor. They are both incredibly accurate, able to shoot both at close range and long distances with a high degree of accuracy. Their level of practice allows them to shoot when concentration would otherwise be impaired, such as while moving or from uncomfortable positions (e.g. hanging in a tree).
