The Fenrir, the Hounds of Heaven, were once a demonic race that had been captured by the forces of Heaven and altered into foot soldiers for the great Demonic-Heaven War. Kamui is one of the survivors and holds a great deal of bitterness towards the Heaven leadership and the generals in the war for their use and abuse of his Fenrir brothers.

Since the war, Kamui has worked as an active demon hunter. One such hunt leads him to Plum's home where he finds the strange mix of beings around her, including Mikael (he finds no small pleasure in harassing the archangel). Without really being aware of it, Kamui is pulled into the realm of Plum.
