Li Izumi's calligraphy is the star of this piece, with my brush painting just accenting. The poem is by the classical poet Izumi Shikibu copied from a manuscript in the hand of the Emperor Go-Tsuchimikado with translation by Li Izumi.
Haru no no ha Yuki nomi tsumu to Mishikadomo Ohiitzuru mono ha Wakana nari keri
Although I saw only snow piling up in the spring fields what sprouted up was the young greens.
