A Ranma 1/2 Fanfiction:

Shampu and Mousse - Jealousy

Part 3 The Fight

by li izumi

"Where on Earth am I now?!"

"Ryoga?! What you do in china?!" Shampu exclaimed in equal surprise as Ryoga climbed out of his self made hole.

"China?! I was trying to get to the Tendo Dojo!" Ryoga exclaimed.

"You no know you go over ocean?" Shampu was incredulous.

"Actually, I think I just went under it,” he said then grumbled to himself, "No wonder the tunnel was so damp." Ryoga looked up at Shampu. "Hey, what are you doing in China?"

"I look for Mousse. He in big trouble."

"Well, whatever. Have fun. See you later."

"Wait! Ryoga help Shampu, yes?"

"Help you? Why should I?"

Shampu thought fast. "You help Shampu, Shampu bring you to Dojo."

"Really? Well then, I'll help."

"How much farther," Ukyou complained.

"We'll be there soon, my newest love," Kuno informed her. She rolled her eyes.

"Remember," Ranma-chan whispered to the girls. "We all agreed to draw straws to see who will get stuck baby-sitting Kuno while the others find Shampu."

"Yea, we know." Akane grumbled. It had better not be me!

"I don't remember the trip from China being this long," Mousse complained.

"It would go easier if you didn't complain so much," Perfume grumbled. She was getting real sick of Mousse. "Or if you wouldn't walk into so many damn trees."

"Or if I was with Shampu instead of you," Mousse shot back.

Perfume clenched her fists, bit her tongue, and other such things to keep from telling Mousse were to stuff it. She repeated quietly to herself, "Wo ai ne."

"Why do I have to watch him?!"

"Because you drew the short straw, Akane."

"Have fun! Don't worry, Ranma-Honey and I will save Shampu. You just keep lover boy there busy till we get back."

"Ranma no baka!" Akane yelled as they ran off. She sat, fuming at being left behind. Then, Kuno glomped her. "Eeeeeiiiaaaaahhhh!!!" Akane screamed, then punted Kuno into tomorrow. She took a moment to catch her breath, then realizing that the person she was supposed to be watching was no longer present, she took off after Ranma and Ukyou.

Why won't he tell me the location to the scrolls. Does he not trust me?

"Oh, Shampu. My heart will always be with you."

"Will you shut up about Shampu?!"

"Why? She's much more beautiful then you. She's a better fighter. She's more graceful. She's..."

"I get the point! You're driving me crazy!"

"I'm glad! I can't stand the thought of living with you!"

"Well I don't plan on living with you!"

Why won't he tell me the location of the scrolls?!

Perfume and Mousse traveled over a difficult stretch of trail on a mountain ridge. Perfume looked down once and caught sight of two figures following below. The distinctive purple hair gave away the identity of one of the figures.

She nearly cursed outloud. How could she be alive?! She had to get away from Mousse and finish off Shampu herself. But how could she get rid of Mousse for a bit? She looked over at the white-robed boy. The answer was obvious.

She walked up behind Mouse and knocked his glasses off.

"Hey! My glasses!" He bent over to pick them up. Perfume kicked them out of his immediate reach.

"God, how pathetic. Look, find your glasses and catch up to me. I don't feel like waiting around for you," she sneered at him. Then, she took off in the oppiset direction so she could kill Shampu.

Down below, on a trail partially up the mountain, Shampu and Ryoga walked a dangerous route. Up above were deadly cliffs and dangerous rocks. Below was a steep slope leading into a rock-strewn river.

They walked slowly over the difficult path, not speaking so they could better concentrate on the path. Suddenly, Ryoga had a sence of danger. He looked up and saw something rushing towards them. A large boulder was rolling directly for them.

"Look out Shampu!" He jumped into her, pushing her out of the rock's way. They landed hard. In saving Shampu, Ryoga condemned himself. Shampu landed at the edge of the slope, but Ryoga's momentum carried him over. He slid down the slope, into the water, turning at once into P-chan.

Shampu, once she got enough strength, got up slowly. She was still weak from the force of Ryoga's push. He had saved her life, but it still hurt. She picked her way down to slope to the river, where P-chan had managed to pull himself out of.

"Ryoga so foolish. There no hot water to change back. But you save Shampu life. I carry you till get back to Japan."

"Shampu travels down below the mountain and Mousse and Perfume are on the mountain. But Shampu isn't traveling alone. There is another set of footprints with hers. They're big. A male's." Ranma-chan observed.

"Who's?" Ukyou asked, trying to get a better look.

"Well find out. We'll follow Shampu's footprints."

"That Bitch survived again! Her companion saved her, but now he is gone. At least I don't have to worry about him. She'll be on guard now. I lost the element of surprise, so I have to attack now before she can regain her stregth!" Perfume began down a path. Further down the path, she saw a figure, a lone female. Perfume grinned.

Akane rushed along the path, following the path that Shampu and Ryoga went down, followed later by Ranma and Ukyou. The path was dangerous, and it wasn't long before she stumbled, catching her foot between some rocks.

"Owwww..." She moaned. She tried to stand, but her leg was stuck. Before she could figure out how to get her leg out, she heard a twig snap behind her. She turned, and froze.

A tall figure loomed in the shadows.

"Ah! There they are!" Mousse placed his glasses back on his face. There were a pair of large feet in front of him. He stood, slowing following the feet up, and up, and up, to the face of a large, ugly, hairy man.

"Who are you?" Mousse demanded.

"You should remember me."

"Are you an oni?"

The man fell over. "An oni?! Can't you remember me Mousse?!"

"Should I?"

"I am Malokai! We are from the same tribe. Everyday I would torment you. Surely you remember me."

"You're right! I remember you! But you picked on my cousin, not on me."

Malokai looked confused. "You're cousin? Are you sure?"

"Positive."

"Oh, well. Makes no difference. I must kill you now."

Malokai lunged at Mousse, his speed catching the young man by surprise. He dodged the attack, but just barely. Mousse countered with his sixty-foot chains that flew from his sleeves, but Malokai kept himself from getting tangled. He twisted in air, landing on his left hand, then propelling himself back into the air. Twisting himself, again, in the air, he launched a few knifes at Mousse, who leapt back several paces to avoid getting impaled.

Mousse pulled two large, curved blades from his sleeves this time, swinging them as he attacked the larger male. Malokai dodged the first several swings, then blocked with some more blades of his own. He struck so hard onto Mousse's blade that it split in two. Mousse discarded the useless weapon and reached into his sleeves for the next item in his inventory.

Malokai interupted him by throwing more of his knifes. Mousse tried to dodge to the left, but Malokai threw more edged implaments of distruction at him. Mousse survived without any realy damage to his body, but his white robes were a mess. He discarded it, losing the weapons that he had still hidden up his sleeves in the process.

But he wasn't the master of Hidden Weapons for nothing. Reaching behind his ear, Mousse pulled out a fishing hook to which a long string of wire was tied. Flinging the hook so that it caught unto Molokai's shirt, Mousse tugged just right, knocking his enemy off his feet. Following the success of that attack through, Mousse threw in some more sixty-foot chains to tangle Molokai's feet. As a finishing blow, Mousse pulled out from his discarded robes a block of cement and brought it down onto Molokai's head.

Malokai did not get up.

Taking just a moment to catch his breath and reorientate himself, Mousse took off to find Perfume and Shampu.

Mousse grew worried as he began to follow the sound of fighting. He thought he heard Shampu's voice. As he entered the clearing, he discovered how right he was to be worried as he found Shampu and Perfume in mortal combat, and it didn't look good for Shampu. In fact, Shampu was pinned beneath a large boulder Perfume had attacked her with. She struggled to free herself of the trap, but could not. She could only watch in horror as Perfume charged straight towards her with her blade at the level of her heart. There was nothing she could do but close her eyes and brace for impact.

Less then a second later, Shampu felt the splash of blood land on her face as the sick sound of blade sliding into flesh reached her ears. But nothing had touched her besides that. She opened her eyes to find Mousse standing before her, Perfume's blade finding a home in his chest.

"Shampu..." he whispered as he fell to the ground.

"Mousse!" she screamed but could not even reach out to him to catch his body as he fell to the ground with a thud. Still trapped, she could only stare in horror as Perfume pulled the blade from Mousse's fallen form and turn to her.

"Now there is no one left to get in my way. I’m going to enjoy this..." Perfume stepped forward...

....And stopped as several small spatulas hit the ground before her.

"That's as far as you go, sugar. Come on, Ranma-honey, let's finish her!"

"Keep her busy for a moment as I get this rock off Shampu," She responded.

That was all the order she needed, Ukyou lunged at Perfume with her giant spatula raised high. Perfume blocked with her blade, but was hard pressed against Ukyou's attack.

Meanwhile, Ranma was struggling with the help of Shampu to lift the boulder trapping her, but finally had to admit that she couldn't. "I'm sorry, Shampu, but my girl-side isn't strong enough!" She cursed.

A scream forced Ranma to look up. Too late to save her, Ranma could only watch as Ukyou was knocked down. Perfume was about to finish her with her sword, when a little black pig jumped her.

"You again?!" Perfume screeched at the pig and once more proceeded to fling the pig into the rocky ground, causing the pig to lose consciousness for the second time. Perfume turned to Ranma and prepared to attack.

"Ranma!"

She turned to see Akane running over to them.

"Stay back, you idiot!!" Ranma yelled back to her.

"I've got hot water for you!" Akane yelled back, holding up a hot water kettle, ignoring Ranma's command.

"Damn!" Perfume, well aware of the presence of yet another fighter to block her plans threw a small blade at Akane. She stopped short of the blade's path and threw the kettle the rest of the way to Ranma. It hit him square on the head, dazing him for a moment, but also changing him back into his true form as the impact with his head cracked the kettle, spilling its contents onto him.

Ranma tossed the rock off Shampu, and the two turned to face Perfume together.

Perfume knew the tide was now against her, but smiled suddenly.

"What think so funny?!" Shampu demanded of her one-time friend.

Shampu had her answer soon enough as Malokai, who had regained consciousness took a swing at her. Shampu leapt away, but her legs were still weak from the boulder, and she landed poorly. Perfume took advantage of that and charged at her. Akane got in her way, but was no match for the seasoned amazon. Akane was shoved away painfully.

"Akane!" Ranma yelled to her, but Akane was already unconscious. "Damn!" Ranma turned to Malokai. "You're going down!" He lunched towards the giant man.

Perfume kicked him before his attack could even reach Malokai. Ranma was sent several feet away, skidding on the ground. He stood painfully.

"Seems like you really need my help after all, Fem-boy."

Ranma turned to see the familiar form of Tarou. He wasn't sure if he was glad or frightened by the older boy's presence.

Ranma confronted Perfume as Tarou faced of Malokai. Tarou's sudden appearance threw both the amazon's off; a well-placed 'Kachu tenshin amaguriken!' Perfume was thrown off out of the way. Ranma turned to help finish off Malokai, but found he didn't have too. The Chinese amazon was really no contest to Tarou. He flew several feet in the air before landing in front of Ranma.

"Feh," Tarou sneered. "Pathetic." He glanced up.

"Ranma!" He shouted in warning, completely forgetting that he didn't care what happened to the cross-dresser, and even forgetting to call him by his insulting nick-name.

That was serious enough to make Ranma turn with out delay. Perfume wasn't quite defeated yet and was charging toward him with her blade raised high. As Ranma began to leap out of the way, a strong hand gripped his ankle, sending him back down to the ground with a thud. A quick glance showed that Malokai was just as tenacious as his chosen mate.

Ranma looked back at the approaching figure of Perfume and knew he was in trouble.

Shampu, coming full-force into Perfume in a somersaulting spin, knocked the attacker away from Ranma. Perfume landed hard, but was on her feet instantly. She leapt in the air to take care of Shampu. Shampu, however, was not waiting around to be hit. Coming down from her spin, she landed on her hands, springing back into the air with a upward left kick, catching Perfume just under her chin. Perfume flew into the air and landed with a crash. Shampu landed in a crouch but pounced back into the air as she came beside the fallen form of Mousse. With a smooth movement, she had slipped her legs under him so his head was laying on her lap.

"Mousse?" She asked quietly.

By this time, Tarou had effectively finished Malokai once more, freeing Ranma from his grip. The first thing he did was walk over to where Akane lie. She was just regaining consciousness, so after checking her over to see that she would be fine, he walked over to Ukyou. Akane grumbled as she fully opened her eyes and saw Ranma leaning over Ukyou.

"Fine, just ignore me," Akane grumbled, but stopped as she saw P-chan collapsed nearby. "P-chan!" Akane ran over to where her pet pig lay. "What on earth are you doing in China?!"

"What a fine sence of direction you have there," Ranma said as he rolled his eyes.

Then the group walked to where Shampoo kneeled.

"Don't count me out yet!" They turned to see Perfume staggering back to them.

"What does it take to finish you?!" Ranma screamed at her, but before he could launch an attack against her, a strange noise was heard.

It was sort of a 'whirring' noise, that was coming from a great distance, but coming closer. With a blur of movement, Kuno came out of the sky, landing head to head onto Perfume. She fell over, finally defeated. Kuno rolled over into a kneeling position with practiced ease.

"Akane Tendo," He said as he looked over, intensely at her. "That hurt you know."

"Why Mousse be so stupid?"

There was an uncomfortable silence as the group turned to where Shampu and Mousse lay on the ground.

"Is he going to be allright?" Ukyou asked hesitantly as she approached the pair.

"Your village isn't too far from here," Tarou spoke up. "I'll go there and send some help." Without waiting for a response, Tarou leapt away.

"I can't believe I'm actually saying this," Ranma spoke to no one in particular. "But I'm actually glad he found us."

"He helped me get some hot water. He said you would probably need it," Akane spoke up. "Then he led me here."

There was again an uncomfortable silence. Shampoo held Mousse tighter. "Hang in there Mousse." She pressed the necklace into his hand. "No die now."

Mousse was well enough to make the trip back to Japan, but he spent much of the trip asleep, which was all for the best. With a few days more rest back at the Cat Cafe, he was as good as new and fully able to join back into the chase of Shampu.

Shampu, for her part, was slightly warmer to Mousse, but still chased Ranma. Mousse very early on discovered the gold ring on the chain and recognized it at once. He never mentioned it to Shampu, for there was no need. instead, he kept chasing Shampu, but this time, it didn't seem quite so hopeless.
